Birsu Tamer (2000, Den Haag) is een Turks-Nederlandse actrice, theatermaker en schrijver. Ze studeerde in 2022 af als taalwetenschapper en rondt dit jaar haar opleiding tot acteur af aan de Toneelacademie Maastricht. Ze schrijft en speelt voorstellingen waarin zij zelf de regie voert. Met haar talige, humoristische en satirische werk zoekt ze naar lichtheid in een moderne wereld die vaak te groot en te zwaar aanvoelt.
In haar dystopische stuk Istanbul 2050 telt een fictieve Istanbul af naar een catastrofale aardbeving waarbij miljoenen doden vallen. In plaats van preventieve maatregelen te nemen, worden de inwoners aangemoedigd plastische chirurgie te ondergaan: als iedereen technisch gezien hetzelfde gezicht heeft, is er technisch gezien maar één dode.
Istanbul 2050 combineert fictie met actuele thema’s: echt aardbevingsgevaar, echte censuur – maar neppe gezichten. Deze afstudeervoorstelling is in maart 2026 te zien op Festival Cement.

Birsu Tamer (born 2000, The Hague) is a Turkish-Dutch actress, theatre maker, and writer. She graduated as a linguist in 2022 and will graduate as an actor this year from the Maastricht Academy of Dramatic Arts. She writes and performs plays in which she herself appears. With her linguistic, humorous, and satirical work, she searches for lightness in a modern world that feels too big and heavy.
In this dystopian play, a fictional Istanbul in the year 2050 counts down to a catastrophic earthquake that will kill millions. Instead of earthquake prevention, residents are convinced to undergo plastic surgery, because if everyone technically has one face, there is technically only one death.
Istanbul 2050 is therefore a fictional work about real future scenarios. Real earthquake danger, real censorship—with fake faces. This graduation performance will be performed at Festival Cement in March 2026.
