Kevin Trappeniers is een Belgisch transdisciplinair kunstenaar die werkt op het snijvlak van beeldende kunst, performance en ruimtelijke installatiekunst. Zijn werk onderzoekt de verhouding tussen mens en landschap, vaak vanuit een poëtische, meditatieve blik op tijd, vergankelijkheid, en ecologie. Hij creëert zintuiglijke omgevingen waarin ruimte, licht, geluid en natuurlijke elementen in dialoog treden. Stilte, tijd en materialiteit staan centraal, en het publiek wordt uitgenodigd tot verstilling, vertraging en reflectie. Trappeniers werkt internationaal en toonde zijn werk al in uiteenlopende contexten, van black box over white cube tot in situ in landschappen.
Kevin Trappeniers creëert werk dat balanceert tussen aanwezigheid en afwezigheid, tussen natuur en menselijke interventie. Met zijn huidige project Art/Earth: Jöklaminni onderzoekt hij hoe kunst kan resoneren met de ecologische en existentiële vragen van onze tijd. Vanuit veldonderzoek, ontmoetingen met wetenschappers en lokale gemeenschappen vertaalt hij klimaatverandering in een poëtische, ruimtelijke ervaring. Hij verbindt daarbij de sporen van verdwijnend ijs van de gletsjers in IJsland aan droogte en overstromingen in België en Nederland. Zijn installaties en performances functioneren als rituelen van waarneming: momenten waarin het publiek kijkt en luistert naar de trage adem van de aarde, om hoopvol maar kritisch reflectie en verandering in vraag te stellen.

Kevin Trappeniers is a Belgian transdisciplinary artist working at the intersection of visual art, performance, and spatial installation. His work explores the relationship between humans and landscape, often from a poetic, meditative perspective on time, transience, and ecology. He creates sensory environments in which space, light, sound, and natural elements enter into dialogue. Silence, time, and materiality are central, and the audience is invited to stillness, deceleration, and reflection. Trappeniers works internationally and has exhibited his work in diverse contexts, from black boxes and white cubes to in situ landscapes.
Kevin Trappeniers creates work that balances between presence and absence, between nature and human intervention. With his current project, Art/Earth: Jöklaminni, he investigates how art can resonate with the ecological and existential questions of our time. Based on field research, meetings with scientists, and local communities, he translates climate change into a poetic, spatial experience. He connects the traces of disappearing ice from Iceland's glaciers to droughts and floods in Belgium and the Netherlands. His installations and performances function as rituals of observation: moments in which the audience watches and listens to the earth's slow breath, to question reflection and change with hope but with a critical eye.
