Rita is een transfeminiene performance- en geluidskunstenaar, geboren in Italië en woonachtig in Nederland. Ze studeerde af aan de Mime-opleiding in Amsterdam, waar ze nu werkzaam is als docent stem en beweging. Daarnaast is ze medeoprichter van Mime Factory, een Amsterdams platform voor onafhankelijke performancekunstenaars, en van Fertile Ruins, een transcollectief dat tweemaandelijks kunstfeesten organiseert. In de afgelopen jaren werkte Rita samen met verschillende internationale choreografen en makers, en trad ze op in uiteenlopende producties. Naast haar samenwerkingen ontwikkelt en speelt ze ook eigen performances op onafhankelijke podia en festivals. Als dj is ze actief onder de naam PussyRita.
Rita’s performances kenmerken zich door een langzame, maar aanhoudende vorm van rebellie. Ze schept werelden waarin het publiek wordt uitgenodigd zich over te geven aan de verbeelding — aan hypnotiserende en emotionele landschappen van lichamen, geluid en textiel. In haar werk vloeien het poëtische en het alledaagse in elkaar over, waarbij het heilige, het vleselijke, het dromerige en het rommelige elkaar ontmoeten.
Binnen Mime Factory richt Rita zich op het creëren van ruimte voor kunstenaars om hun praktijk te verkennen. Ze faciliteert repetities, workshops en evenementen die het delen en verdiepen van het experimentele aspect van de podiumkunsten stimuleren. Tijdens Winternights nodigt Rita het publiek uit voor een zaterdagochtendsessie met de titel il ronzio degli insetti (insectengezoem).

Rita is a transfeminine performance and sound artist, born in Italy and living in the Netherlands. She graduated from the Mime department in Amsterdam, where she now teaches voice and movement. She is also the co-founder of Mime Factory, an Amsterdam-based platform for independent performance artists, and of Fertile Ruins, a trans collective that organizes bimonthly art festivals. In recent years, Rita has collaborated with various international choreographers and creators, performing in a variety of productions. In addition to her collaborations, she also develops and performs her own performances at independent venues and festivals. She DJs under the name PussyRita.
Rita's performances are characterized by a slow but persistent form of rebellion. She creates worlds where the audience is invited to surrender to their imagination—to hypnotic and emotional landscapes of bodies, sound, and textiles. In her work, the poetic and the mundane merge, bringing together the sacred, the carnal, the dreamlike, and the messy.
At Mime Factory, Rita focuses on creating spaces for artists to explore their practice. She facilitates rehearsals, workshops, and events that encourage sharing and deepening the experimental aspect of the performing arts. During Winternights, Rita invites the public to a Saturday morning session titled il ronzio degli insetti (insect buzz).
